2018-2019 Scholarship Announcement
GULF COAST SHELL CLUB
Panama City, Florida
The Gulf Coast Shell Club is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of the studies of malacology and conchology. Established in 1980, it has an ongoing commitment to educating the public and the conservation and preservation of mollusks (terrestrial, fresh water and marine) and their habitats.
Beginning in 2014 the club has been able to provide scholarships for undergraduate students (Sophomores to Seniors) studying marine biology and graduate students whose course work includes some aspect of malacology. Our 2019 awards (granted for the 2019-2020 school year) total $1,000 given in $500 increments. The funds may be used for tuition, books and supplies, fees, or any other legitimate college expense.
Awardees will incur an obligation to either present a program at one of the GCSC monthly meetings or to provide a written article for our newsletter. Reports, studies, or other material prepared as part of the student’s coursework may be used for this purpose.
